11 of my Favourite In-Flight Travel Essentials

I may have taken a while to just think of that title, not gonna lie! Travel Essentials seemed a bit boring!
So it’s that time of the year again! I’m currently sat here with my little list, wondering what else to put on it, but today I’m just gonna talk about what’s there now, get it off my chest, like it’s some burden, and crack on with it! Also, I’ve been so excited to do a list post so this is just the best in my little mind.
1. Water
This is an absolute must for me. Travelling no matter where you go always seems to take forever and you never get the chance to sit down and have a chill time. To me, even when you’re flying you feel like you’re busy and you’re doing something because you literally have no freedom to do whatever you want. So it’s important to keep yourself hydrated and keep yourself going throughout the trip. Also, flying on a plane is really, well, not claustrophobic, but a bit compact… that probably means the same thing but i don’t know! Just drink some water!
2. Moisturiser
The same goes for this really! This is more for the plane part, I know I didn’t write about it but water’s for the whole trip. Planes I find can really dry your skin out and make you feel really drained, so it’s nice to give it some hydration. I’ve only really just started looking after my skin so moisturiser is gonna be my best friend on Sunday morning!
3. Paracetamol
There isn’t much to say about this really, it’s just good to have a back up supply!
4. Money
Euros and Pounds, unless you’re from a country that has another currency, you should have a good amount of both, just in case the plane only accepts whatever currency! I’ve had that dilemma before, and a good amount means £20’s worth maybe? A good amount to keep you happy.
5. Entertainment
Why would this not be on my list! Of course for me it’s Sudoku, and music. I could live off those 2… for a day.
6. Glasses
This isn’t everyone’s essential, but for me it is! On planes my contacts sometimes really dry my eyes out. A lot of times they’re okay but I always like my specs to be on standby for those occasions. Sometimes I have moments in life where I don’t have them and I have to take one contact out and then I’m half blind. That for me is ultimately the most annoying thing ever.
7. Lip Balm
This goes alongside moisturiser really, but I tend to use lip balm a lot more than anything else skin related because I have a tendency to bite the skin round my lips. I really try not to but it’s just a habit! My favourite though of course is EOS. I’ve heard a lot of bad reviews on it and that genuinely baffles me because I got completely hooked on it when I tried it! Love me some EOS!
8. Boiled Sweets
On planes, boiled sweets save my life. Don’t you just hate it when your ears pop on planes? My mum always brought sweets along with her on planes and I’m not sure where she got it from but it was the best idea ever. Oh and you can’t just eat it, you’ve got to suck ’till you’re in the air.
9. Camera
This may be a blogger/youtuber essential but obviously for me, my must have is a camera! I love vlogging my whole journey and taking a lot of pictures along the way, just to show the internet my findings!
10.Pens
You always need a pen! Even if you’re not carrying a notebook or doing sudoku, you never know what you might need it for!
11.Macbook
I probably wont be using this on the plane but I like having it with me for security reasons 🙂

Okay so that is my little list of things that I will be taking away on holiday with me! What would you take on holiday with you?

The Azure Window

I discovered this place in May last year, but I felt it had earned it’s place on my #TravelTuesday thingy.
Located on the Island of Gozo, Malta, it was just a little bus ride away from our Hotel, and I don’t mean little as in short trip, I mean little money. Buses in Malta are dirt cheap and collectively that has to be my favourite thing about the place. A day ticket was something like 1.50€. The bus journey took around an hour to get there, and I think the bus was every 2 hours or something, which wasn’t okay, because the only thing to do was look at the views, visit the little chapel (which was shut) and visit the heavily priced pop up shops with general tat in.
Unfortunately this was pretty much the only way to get there. There was a very small car park but it was packed.

The views may seem very familiar to a lot of people. The Azure Window in Dwerja was apparently in a famous episode of Game of Thrones, and I’ve got to say, I’ve tried watching it, and it just isn’t for me! Game of Thrones was actually the reason we went in the first place. My boyfriend absolutely loves it and he really wanted to go, so that’s why we went!

The views start amazing you when you’re on the bus and you can see out of the window. Once you get there, it’s easy to get disappointed, but try not to! Just walk a bit closer to the edge and you’ll soon be amazed again!
Now, I say you’ll be disappointed because this is the view you see. Amongst the rocks and along them are little puddles of salt water that you avoid like lava because they’re riddled with bugs. I myself am stupid and decided to wear flip flops on that particular day, because I sure wasn’t expecting this! There literally is so much climbing to do though, it’s ridiculous!

Nevertheless, the Azure Window was one of the highlights of my trip and I would definitely recommend it to a friend. When you’ve finished exploring you can go get an ice cream, listen to the man playing a cheesy accordion, sit and have a sunbathe whilst admiring the view until your bus arrives.

The Azure Window isn’t the only place I’m gonna be mentioning about Malta, but you’ll have to wait until another time for that one! I’ve also made a little vlog about my trip to Malta, you can check it out here!

Feel free to discuss your views on this natural beauty below!

Armona

I recently went to Portugal with my other half. On the last day we decided to explore a bit further afield, I mean, we would have done that sooner, but we didn’t because of me and my silly body.

So off we went to the harbour, I’m not sure where we got the idea from (maybe Google), but nevertheless, we were looking for the best route to the island of Armona. The boat trips were very confusing, the ticket booth looked as though it had been closed for 20 years, and that was apparently the only way you could get tickets! Anyway, an hour went by and we got our tickets and boarded the boat!

The boat was very bouncy, busy, and not very attractive on the eye, that’s all I’m gonna say!

So then we got to the island and I have to say, I was honestly blown away. On either side of the walkway there were two beaches, behind these were bars and restaurants, then immediately houses that were covered in an absolutely stunning beautiful array of flowers.
As we walked further into the island I could see why the boat was so busy, for such a little island! There was just one main footpath on the island and a few little ones leading from it to access the houses, which I regret not going down. The houses on this footpath however were so beautiful, you can see how much pride the people here take in looking after the appearance of their houses. I’m now going to tell you a few of my favourites!

The first one looked like a pirates house, or something from an abandoned island. It looked very majestic with it’s selection of palm trees sat on a bed of bark. In the middle was a wooden staircase leading to a little blue and white house. In my mind I could see a sailor living here, which makes sense if you look at the previous picture.

The next house that blew my mind was a house that made me wish we came a little later in the year, but on the other hand, working at a garden centre, I know deep down this house was quite happy with the not-so-scorching weather.

As we walked a little further down I could see these beautiful bright pink Azaleas looking right at me (not literally), as I approached them, I could not resist taking many pictures, and, need I say more, just look at it! To be honest, I didn’t even notice what else was in the garden.

And finally, before we get to the most spectacular bit, lets just look at the last house.

Now I admit myself, and I should hope the homeowner agrees that this garden needs a little work, but to be fair, I think they may have been doing a bit of work on it when I saw this, as I think I took this on the way back, but this also looks like a sailors house! I mean, there isn’t much garden, but the little pathway looks so dainty and cute leading to what looks like the perfect beach home, don’t you think? This house was situated opposite a new bar they were building, which is probably finished now, but I didn’t take a picture of it, because, why would I?

So literally just turning to my right of this photo I began walking down the footpath to the beach, and need I say more? Just look at this! Only downside is that it seemed to take FOREVER to walk there.
When we got to the end of the walkway, I was literally in heaven, aside from the really annoying wind and ridiculous idea we had to carry a massive bag full of rubbish in (not literal rubbish), but we collected some shells that we’ve kept for posterity.

On the way back we went to have a little drink and a hot dog , at the same time we seemed to be doomed with a wasp/ant infestation but we didn’t let that stop us enjoying our beautiful views, unfortunately though, the bar was set a bit far back so you could only see tiny hills and no sea.

So that is it! That is my review on the beautiful island of Armona, we departed from Olhao and to be honest, I wouldn’t stay there again, and I wouldn’t personally stay in Armona, just because of the little things to do there, I wouldn’t definitely recommend a day out there though, it took us around 20 minutes to reach the other side of the island, there it was really windy on the beach, so we decided not to sunbathe.

We didn’t see one car on the beach, we only saw peddle bikes and a quad bike, so I assume that’s how they get around, aside from walking. I’d probably retire there if I could, maybe if there was a bit more to do, and if I liked boats.

But yes, that is it, thank you for reading! And I hope this maybe inspired you to go discover the island for yourself?
